.A late winter storm system will impact Iowa and northwest Illinois today. Rain will changeover to sleet and snow early this morning and continue through early afternoon. Most sleet and snow accumulations will occur along and north of Interstate 80, with moderate to heavy wet snow possible north of highway 30. A period of freezing rain resulting in a light glaze may also occur at times in the advisory areas. The heaviest snow will fall this morning, impacting the morning commute.

* WHAT…Heavy mixed precipitation changing to snow. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze. Snowfall rates around 1 inch per hour will be possible. East winds gusting as high as 35 mph, reducing visibility below a half mile at times.
* WHERE…Portions of east central and northeast Iowa.
* WHEN…Until 4 PM CDT this afternoon.
* IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.
