One person injured in motorcycle vs. deer accident

A motorcycle – deer accident last night near Camanche seriously  injured the cyclist. The Camanche Fire Department and Ambulance Service was dispatched to the Highway 67 and 9th Avenue area about 9 P-M.


Emergency crews arrived to find that the motorcyclist was riding on Highway 67 when a deer ran out in front of him. Camanche paramedics and E-M-T’s treated the cyclist at scene for what was described as life-threatening injuries. He was transferred to Med-Force personnel and transported to Genesis East by helicopter. Officials noted that the cyclists was not wearing a helmet.

The Highway was shut down for about 90 minutes during the incident. The accident is under investigation by the Camanche Police and the Iowa State Patrol.

The Camanche Fire Department responded with 2 ambulances, 2 engine companies, 2 support vehicles and 20 personnel.
