Record High Temps

Before the storms arrived late yesterday it was a record setting weather day in Clinton on Wednesday.

Official weather observer Jim Blaess says the temperature reach 74 degrees.  He says that is a record for December 15th with the previous record 56 in 1933 in local weather statistics to 1879.

Blaess reported Thursday morning the temperature at midnight was 64 and that will be a record high for the date in the records.  He says the previous record for December 16th was 58 set in 1939 and tied in 1984.

Blaess says it is also the warmest day in a December in those records to 1879 and the second time there’s  been a 70 degree reading in the December records.  The weather observer says 70 degrees on December 4th in 1998 is the only other time there’s been 70 degrees recorded in the records.
