Clinton County will be removing Special Weather Statement Alerts from Alert Iowa System

If you signed up for the Alert Iowa updates thru the Clinton County Emergency Management Agency-you may start to see fewer statements via email or texts.

Clinton County Emergency Management Agency Director Chance Kness says the system is meant as a method to alert he public about various emergencies and weather information.  When the system moved to a new vendor the agency had to choose from more than a hundred options that could be sent out.  He says they included the special weather statements at that time, but are now removing those alerts.

The information in these Special Weather Statements may still be obtained by the public through other weather sources. All other alerts for public safety and severe weather will stay in place including Tornado, High Winds, Severe Thunderstorms, etc.

The local Emergency Management Agency Director says there may be other changes as the system develops.

Kness encourages people to select or retain the non-weather emergency alerts

Kness says they appreciate citizens participating in the Alert Iowa system.

Kness says the EMA asked for the weather statements to removed from the Clinton County setup immediately.
