River Bend Schools are grateful for the support and cooperation shown today by the Fulton Police Department. They moved swiftly to support our schools once the threat was made known.
The Fulton Police notified the River Bend Schools that the lock down will be lifted for school tomorrow Wednesday March 16, 2022. Students will be allowed to be outside in the morning and be able to go to recess during the day. Out of an abundance of caution the Fulton Police will continue to have an increased presence at schools tomorrow.
The following is a press release from the Fulton Police Department:
At approximately 9:40 am March 15, 2022 the Fulton Police Department was notified by the River Bend School District of an external threat to the Fulton High School. This external threat stated that someone was going to “Shoot up the Fulton High School.” At this time, all schools within the city limits of Fulton were placed on a soft lockdown, while this incident was under investigation.
At approximately 5:15 pm, officers with the Fulton Police Department executed a search warrant in the City of Clinton, IA with the assistance of Clinton Police Department. As a result of the search warrant, several electronic items were seized, and a Juvenile subject was detained.
The Fulton Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, Clinton Police Department, Clinton County District Attorney’s Office, Whiteside County State’s Attorney, and the DeWitt Police Department.
Officers will continue to be present at all the schools within the City of Fulton tomorrow, March 16, 2022. The Fulton Police Department wants to remind everyone that this is an ongoing investigation and charges are still pending.
