The city is on the road to hosting a multi-day country music festival. The Clinton City Council approved moving forward to work on a multi-year deal to host the Tailgate and Tall Boys Tour starting in 2023 at the Clinton riverfront.
The tour is organized by USA Concerts and President Wayne Klein told the council he has friend who works in Clinton and has visited several times, but after a serious look at the area decided they wanted to bring the tour to Clinton. Klein said the organization wants to be in Clinton and will help the city with some of their costs to be repaid later.
He explained they organize the entire multi day event.
He says they stay as local as possible for as many parts of the event as possible.
Klein said it will have an economic impact on the community.
Parks and Recreation Director Josh Eggers also said the economic impact will be felt throughout the city.
Klein said they look at other area festivals to pick the best weekend possible for the events.
Clinton Mayor Scott Maddasion said it’s a huge opportunity for the city.
Maddasion believes the residents will be receptive to the concept.
Klein said they work on the line-up of artists to make sure they all sell tickets-not just fill a slot in the schedule.
The Council agreed to move forward to work on a contract to host the Tailgate and Tall Boys Tour.
