The Clinton School Board & City Council will discussing housing development ideas and the city council has a special meeting on Liberty Square-check out the week’s tentative schedule here:
The Clinton School Board will consider formal action to enter an agreement with Community Housing Initiatives that could result in the sale of the now vacant Roosevelt School Building.
The firm has proposed converting the building to apartments, but must obtain a 3-million dollar grant for the project or it would not proceed. C-H-I has proposed an exclusive purchase agreement-pending the grant award. The School Board will hold a public hearing on the proposal at the meeting on Monday evening. The meeting is scheduled to being at 6 o’clock –August 11th – at the school’s Administrative Center.

The Clinton City Council has their regular business meeting and a committee of the whole session on Tuesday. In the business session the council will consider some items that have been give approval during previous discussion session. Among those items is a contract with McClure Engineering to develop plans to establish a water supply to the railport industrial park and a resolution to drop the plans to make a sidewalk along 13th Avenue North to the new middle school an assessment project and paid by the city.
During the committee of the whole session the council will discuss two proposals for housing developments that could be submitted for a possible grant program. One proposal is from the Community Housing Initiatives to turn the vacant Roosevelt School Building into apartments. A second proposal is from housing developer Dan Dolan.
Another topic is an update on the project to renovate the south drive in Eagle Point Park
The council will meet Tuesday at 7 P-M at city hall on August 12th.

The Clinton City Plan Commission will be meeting Wednesday in a regular session. That session is at 4 P-M. on August 13th.

The Central School Board meets on Wednesday – August 13th – at the Middle School in DeWitt.
The board will review the year progress reports of students. Bids for some athletic facilities enhancement projects will be considered.
The session starts at 6 PM.

A special work session is planned for the Clinton City Council on the topic of Liberty Square. That session will be Thursday – August 14th. City Administrator Jessica Kinser says the staff expects to obtain a vision from the council on how the Liberty Square Area should be used in the future. She notes that all actions will be considered under the Master Plan for the district. The meeting starts at 1:30.

The Clinton County Area Solid Waste Agency meets on Thursday at 6:30 at the agency’s office at the landfill.
