On October 1, 2023, at approximately 8:52 A.M., the Clinton County Sheriffs Office responded to a report of a train striking a pedestrian at the railroad crossing on 330^*^ Ave, approximately 200 yards south of Highway 30. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an adult male had been struck by a Union Pacific train travelling westbound through Clinton County. The adult male struck by the train was pronounced deceased at the scene. The railroad crossing, along with 330’*^ Ave, were both closed for approximately four hours, until the on-scene investigation concluded. The identity of the deceased is still under investigation. Investigators were not able to locate any form of identification on the deceased victim and are seeking information from anyone who may have knowledge or talked to an adult male who was in the area of Malone Lake, or dropped off in the area of Malone Lake, on or about October TL The case remains under investigation by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Clinton County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Union Pacific Railroad.
