KROS Radio Heard in Finland

Radio enthusiast from Finland, Dr. Jyrki Hytonen was able to hear KROS AM 1340 on October 3rd in Finland. His hobby is trying to catch long distance AM signals all over the world. He travels annually from his home to a small cabin 200 miles above Arctic Circle for one week just to listen to radio all day long. It’s very remote place, nearest neighbors over 30 miles away. There he was able to use over 3000 feet long antennae. On October 3rd, He heard 1340 AM KROS top of the hour identification. The frequency 1340 AM is very crowded and stations have low power, So he was especially lucky to catch the signal here (in Finland).

Dr. Hytonen added “I live somewhat out of your normal coverage area (distance 4147 miles between Clinton and Inari, my radio location), So your new tower and transmitter are working perfectly since your signal covers Scandinavia also”! He is retired forest researcher, worked Natural Resources Institute Finland (Dr. Forestry), and has visited forests in VT, GA, AL, NY…
