Salvation Army Needs Bell Ringers

The Salvation Army’s iconic red kettle fundraising campaign is starting to ramp up and bell ringers are needed across Clinton County. The Salvation Army 360 Life Center is in need of volunteers who can help. The money raised in red kettle donations is spent on rent and utility assistance for citizens in Clinton County, and the need has doubled in the last two years, according to director Susan Sharp. “People are desperate for help right now and our red kettle fundraising is how we accomplish this. When you drop your donation in a red kettle—weather at a counter kettle in local establishments or where there’s a bell-ringer, you can feel confident that your money supports this unit directly.”

The red kettle campaign in Clinton County begins Nov 10th in most locations. With commitments to ring at Walmart, HyVee, Hobby Lobby, Farm & Fleet, Fareway, Walgreens and Jewel Osco, Sharp is open to other partnerships from local businesses that would be willing to have a kettle outside their store or inside a vestibule. “Will you help us help the most vulnerable in our community,” asks Sharp.

“If an employer would allow their employees to ring on the clock, it would be a huge blessing to us. And we’d love to work with school groups, too. We have a whole generation of volunteers for whom ringing is now too physically difficult and we need to fill those spots with younger persons that can withstand the elements,” adds Sharp. Groups, families, organizations and individuals can view a schedule of available locations and times at registertoring.com or they can simply reach out to Sharp by calling 563.242.4502.
