Throughout the 2024 session of Iowa’s 90th General Assembly, Grow Clinton and DeWitt Chamber and Development Company are hosting Legislative Coffees on select Saturdays. On January 20, February 24, March 23, and April 27, Clinton County’s state officials will chair a public forum on the latest happenings at the capitol and be available to answer policy questions.
At 9am, at Camanche City Hall, Senator Chris Cournoyer, State Representative Tom Determann, and State Representative Norlin Mommsen will engage with the public until 10am. Then at 11am, the three will host another panel at DeWitt Community Hal. The public is invited, and no registration is required.
“These forums allow the public to engage with their elected officials. Some say it’s because of the caucus process, but whatever the reason, it’s an Iowa tradition that our local representatives open themselves and the process up to the public. Please attend the most conveniently located forum and join the democratic process,” said Matt Parbs, VP Of Community & Economic Development in Clinton.
The Camanche City Hall is located at 818 7th Avenue, whereas the DeWitt Community Center is located at 510 10th Street. In addition, the forum at Camanche City Hall will be broadcast live on their YouTube. At the forums, questions from Clinton County residents are given priority. In addition, attendees are asked to write their questions down and these questions are given priority. Elected officials make opening and closing remark as well.
