The Salvation Army 360 Life Center at 219 1st Ave is now responding to disasters in Clinton County. Director Susan Sharp has been working on volunteer recruitment and training in preparation for their response. “I’m so appreciative of the great connections made in the county with the sheriff’s office, office of emergency management, and fire and police departments. We are ready to serve where needed.”
Emergency Disaster Services assists victims with immediate needs and concerns, as well as liaising with other agencies like the Red Cross. Additionally, Salvation Army EDS includes comfort measures for first responders. “We’ll always look after victims of a disaster, but first responders are on our hearts as well and we’ll tend to them as well with comfort measures and spiritual and emotional care as needed.”
The disaster service component of the Salvation Army has been in the works for some time in Clinton County and Sharp has been training to lead this work. Other services of the 360 Life Center office include emotional and spiritual support including a Bible Study and prayer each Wednesday at noon, as well as assistance with resumes and soft skills to prepare persons for job interviews, and their graffiti cleanup project will resume this spring. “We’re doing so much right now that we could use more volunteers to assist in the office and to be a part of our Disaster Services. If you have any interest in volunteering, reach out to Sharp at 563.242.4502 or susan.sharp@usc.salvationarmy.org.
