You are hereby notified that the City Council of the City of Camanche, Iowa, has the following vacancy: At Large 1 Council Member, effective March 5, 2024. This Council seat expires December 31, 2025.
Pursuant to Iowa Code Section 372.13 (2)(a), the Camanche City Council intends to fill the council vacancy by appointment at its March 19, 2024 regular meeting at 6:00 pm. The person appointed will fill the vacancy until the next regular election for the City at which time the electorate of the City of Camanche will vote to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the term.
You are further notified that, pursuant Section 372.13(2) of the Code of Iowa, the Council has elected to fill the vacancy by appointment, but the electors of the City have the right to file a petition requiring that the vacancy be filled by a special election.
The Council has requested that those interested in being appointed to bring a letter of interest to the City Clerk’s office at 818 7th Avenue by 4:00 p.m. on March 15, 2024. The appointment shall be for the period until the next pending election, as defined by Section 69.12, Code of Iowa.
The Council will make the appointment to fill the vacancy at its regular meeting which begins at 6:00 PM on March 19, 2024.
