The overnight precipitation in the Clinton area total about one-third of an inch according to Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaess. Check ‘more’ for details on temperatures and what it would take for record lows this week.
With cooler temperatures predicted for later this week, Blaess noted the record lows at this time of year are in typically in the low 40’s or 30’s. He cited the example of the record low for September 11th is 34 recorded in 1917 and the record low for the 12th is 31 in 1904.
Blaess also pointed out last year for the swings that can occur in the weather. Last year on September 9th there was a record high of 98 and another record high on the 10th of 97.
He said the back-to-back record highs in 2013 is the first time there were record highs two days in a row in a September was 1953.
