On June 17, 2024, at approximately 11:41 AM, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office received
notification from the Dubuque Police Department (lA.) of a motor vehicle being stolen from their city.
The stolen vehicle was observed travelling south from Dubuque. A Clinton County Deputy located the
stolen motor vehicle traveling eastbound in the 3500 block of 220^^ Street at approximately 12:10
PM. The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle; however, the vehicle refused
to stop when the deputy activated his emergency lights and siren. The deputy pursued the stolen
vehicle for approximately three miles, until which time the stolen vehicle caught fire. As the vehicle
continued to elude the deputies attempts to stop it, the fire caused the vehicle to become disabled.
The deputy was able to take the driver into custody without incident, after the vehicle came to rest
near the intersection of 200^^ Street and 390^^ Ave. The stolen vehicle, shortly after the driver was
taken into custody, became fully engulfed in flames. There were no injuries as a result of the motor
vehicle pursuit or the vehicle fire.
The Low Moor Fire Department, Goose Lake Fire Department, and
Andover Fire Department responded to the scene to extinguish the fire. The driver was transported
to the Clinton County Jail, where he was charged with the following:
● Theft 2”^ Degree
● Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
● Speeding
● Failure to Obey Stop Sign
● Passing Contrary to Highway Markings
● No Valid Driver’s License
I have attached an image of the vehicle engulfed in flames, after the suspect was arrested and
removed from the vehicle.
Notice: Criminal charges are merely an accusation; all defendants are presumed innocent, until and
unless proven guilty.
