The Clinton Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 130 North 5th Street. All units responded emergent from their respective stations. Camanche was dispatched as RIT. Clinton Fire Department responded with 1 ladder truck, 1 Engine, 3 Ambulances, and Command. Neighbors on scene advised that the residents had left for work, and no one should be home but they do have several cats. Crews forced entry into the rear of the residence and made an aggressive offensive interior attack and extinguished the fire within minutes. A search of the structure was performed and 2 cats were removed from the residence. Loss Stop was called at 17:24, and the investigation to the start of the fire began. The Salvation Army Emergency assistance program was contacted and assisted with temporary placement and food for the 2 adult residents who were displaced. The residence was valued at $65,000.00 and $55,000 was saved. The Clinton Fire Department was assisted by the Camanche Fire Department, Clinton Police Department, Alliant Energy for gas and electrical, 1-800-BoardUp, and Salvation Army. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
