Structure Fire 125 7th Avenue South

The Clinton Fire Department dispatched to a storage shed on fire in the 100 block of 7th Avenue South at approximately 03:41 hours on August 19, 2024. CFD responded with fourteen personnel in a command vehicle, two aerial apparatus, an engine, and three ambulances. Camanche Fire was dispatched for automatic aid and responded with three personnel and an engine for RIT. The correct address of the fire was 125 7th Avenue South.

On arrival, crews located a single-story storage complex about 25′ x 75′ in size. The structure had heavy fire near the middle of the building which had already extended through the roof of at least four units. There was also visible fire on the peak of the roof throughout most of the complex. Defensive operations began and additional call-back staffing of more personnel was requested. Alliant Energy was also request for powerline exposure issues. The complex contained 20 individual units which required the cutting of metal doors and forcible entry to gain access to all units to fight the fire. Several hose lines and two aerial ladder water streams were used to extinguish the fire. The extinguishment and overhaul process were manpower consuming due to the amount of fire involvement within the building, the fire load of the contents, and the access issues associated with this type of structure. The main body of fire was knocked down within about 45 minutes. Crews remained on scene for several hours checking for hot spots and performing an investigation.

There were no injuries or deaths and the cause of the fire is under investigation. No other information is available at this time. Crews were assisted on scene by the Clinton Police Department, the Camanche Fire Department, Alliant Energy, Clinton Street Department, and Clinton County Communications.
