Vehicle vs Pedestrian Accident

On 09/23/2024 at or about 0750 a.m., Clinton County Communications received a call of a pedestrian struck by
a vehicle on Highway 30 at 158th Ave. The location of the incident is approximately 2 miles west of Calamus.

A Preliminary investigation shows a school bus from the Calamus-Wheatland School district was stopped in the
Eastbound Lane of Hwy 30 to make a pickup. A westbound passenger car struck a child in the westbound lane
of the highway. The child was airlifted to the University of Iowa for treatment.

Clinton County Deputies were assisted at the scene by Wheatland Ambulance, Calamus Fire, Genesis
Ambulance, Iowa State Patrol, and Med force air ambulance.
The accident is under investigation by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.
