Structure Fire

@ 03:23 hours on Saturday, September 28, 2024, the Clinton Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire at 101 18th Avenue North, Clinton, Iowa. The first fire unit on the scene reported light smoke coming from the front doors of the apartment complex. After further investigation, apartment A in the basement had a grease fire on the stove, which was extinguished before the Fire Department arrived. This was an 11-unit apartment complex and most of the occupants were evacuated on the Department’s arrival. The Fire Department removed the smoke from the complex and there was no further damage. Damage to the apartment was approximately $5,000.00. The occupant did have renter’s insurance. The fire department was on the scene for a little over an hour. One minor injury was reported from the person that extinguished the fire.

The Clinton Fire Department responded with 1 engine company, 2 ladder companies, 3 paramedic ambulances, 1 command vehicle and 14 personnel.
