Structure Fire

Clinton Fire Department was dispatched to 920 7th Avenue South for a possible structure fire. CFD responded with 14 personnel, two ladder trucks, one engine, three ambulances, and one command vehicle. Upon our arrival we found a two-story single-family home with fire on the second floor and through the roof. CFD members had water on the fire within four minutes of arrival and had the fire under control within 30 minutes. Nobody was injured, two cats lived in the house but were unharmed. CFD was assisted by Clinton Police Department and Clinton Street Department.

Cause of the fire was determined to be overloaded knob and tube wiring in the wall connecting a switch to a bathroom fan and light.
