The City of Clinton is proud to announce that it has been awarded a significant grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) aimed at reducing lead hazards and promoting healthy homes within our community. Yolanda Brown from HUD personally congratulated the city on securing grant funds in the amount of $5,250,000.
This generous funding will enable the City of Clinton to continue implementing lead hazard reduction strategies and enhance healthy living conditions in a total of 85 residences. The initiative is a crucial step toward ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents, particularly our children.
Mayor Scott Maddasion stated, “We are thrilled to receive this funding, which will make a substantial impact on our community. This grant is not just a financial investment; it represents a commitment to enhancing the health and safety of our residents. It’s a remarkable achievement made possible through the strong partnership between the City of Clinton and East Central Intergovernmental Association (ECIA). We owe a special thanks to ECIA’s talented Elizabeth Kemp for her hard work and dedication in making this possible. This comes on the heels of the City and ECIA just wrapping up a $2.8 million lead grant that saw over 80 homes have lead safely removed over the last three plus years.”
We encourage residents to stay engaged and informed about this initiative as we will be providing more information in the near future.
