Clinton Fire Department dispatched to 319 3rd Avenue North for a structure fire. Arriving fire units found a one-story residence with heavy smoke showing from the roofline of the residence. An attic fire on side Charlie was visually confirmed by command during a 360 assessment. Fire crews performed a transitional fire attack before moving to an offensive fire attack for extinguishment. The occupant of the residence had exited prior to arrival of CFD. A search was performed finding no other occupants and fire crews performed salvage and overhaul inside the structure. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing and damage estimates are still being determined. Fire crews remained on scene to extinguish remaining hot spots. After the fire was extinguished, 1-800-Board-Up was requested to secure the residence and the Salvation Army assisted the occupant with temporary housing.
