Christmas Light Recycling

Everybody has lots of cleaning up to do after the Christmas holiday, but don’t forget to recycle.
And remember one item that can be recycled is your unwanted or non-functioning Christmas
light strands.

Did you know that the Clinton County Area Solid Waste Agency recycles electrical wiring such
as electrical cords, extension cords, and Christmas lights, for FREE? Did you also know that
these items are accepted year-round for FREE?

Recycling of electrical wiring is done through our metal recycling program. If you would like to
utilize the electrical wiring recycling program, then when arriving at CCASWA stop into the office
and notify the scale attendant on duty that you have wiring for recycling. The scale attendant will
then direct you to the proper drop off area. Lights will NOT be accepted in curbside recycling
bins, please bring them to CCASWA. And remember to keep the packaging separate from the
lights. Boxes can be recycled at the Clinton County Recycling Drop-off on site. No lights in
plastic bags, please.

So, remember don’t send those unwanted or broken Christmas lights to the “Landfill of Misfit
Decorations”. Recycle them!

For more information regarding Christmas light recycling or any other programs CCASWA offers
please call at 563-243-4749 or visit www.ccaswa.com .
