On Monday, January 6, 2025, Dore and Associates will begin mobilization of their equipment for the partial demolition of a portion of the former YMCA structure at 480 South 3rd Street. The building addition between the original 1904 building and the swimming pool area will be demolished. This area is reflected in the hashed area below.
This demolition is necessary to continue to preserve and maintain the original, historic 1904 building for future redevelopment.
Demolition and cleanup are projected to take 1-2 months, depending on weather. During
this time, parking will not be permitted on the north side of the 300 block of 5th Ave South abutting the structure, the sidewalk on the north side of the 300 block of 5th Avenue South will be closed abutting the structure, and the alley to the north of 480 South 3rd Street will be partially closed.
Aerial image of the areas of sidewalk, street parking and alley that will be temporarily closed is outlined in red below.
Traffic in the 300 block of 5th Avenue South will remain open.
The public is encouraged to avoid the area, if possible.
Dore and Associates will be completing the demolition and cleanup in accordance with all State and Federal regulations. The City’s qualified environmental professional from Eocene will be onsite to monitor the project throughout the demolition and cleanup.
This project is funded and made possible by President Joe Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and EPA and ECIA Brownfields Coalition Revolving Loan Funds.
