Structure Fire’s

The Clinton Fire Department (CFD) responded to a structure fire at 1705 Springdale Drive after receiving a call about smoke and flames, with reports of a person still inside. Thirteen CFD personnel arrived on the scene with two ladder trucks, one engine, three ambulances, and a command vehicle.

Upon arrival, light smoke filled the structure, and flames were visible at the rear of the home. Three occupants had evacuated safely after discovering the fire. However, one individual re-entered the home in an attempt to extinguish the fire and sustained injuries. The individual was transported to MercyOne for treatment.

CFD brought the fire under control within 15 minutes of arrival. Firefighters rescued two cats and one dog during the incident. The homeowners are receiving assistance from the Red Cross as they recover from the event. CFD would like to remind residents of the dangers of re-entering a burning building. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Structure Fire (Garage)

At 12:14 hours, the Clinton Fire Department was dispatched to a possible structure fire with numerous 911 calls for a garage fire at 519 North 4th Street, Clinton, Iowa. The first fire unit on the scene reported heavy smoke coming from a single-story wood frame detached garage, with flames coming out of the rear window of the garage. The first engine company on the scene deployed a hose line and extinguished the fire. This fire was under control within 15 minutes. The cause of this fire was accidental in nature. There was a portable generator running in the garage and the exhaust was too close to ordinary combustibles and this is what started the fire. The garage sustained approximately $ 3,000.00 damage to the structure and $ 1,000.00 to the contents. The garage was not insured. There were no injuries to firemen or civilians.

The Clinton Fire Department responded with 2 ladder companies, 1 engine company, 3 paramedic ambulances, 1 Command vehicle and 13 personnel. The Fulton Fire Department was dispatched for a Rapid Intervention Team, but canceled before they arrived. The Clinton Police Department was on scene for traffic control.
