Pursuant to Council resolution in May of 2024, the City sought funding through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency via a Community Change Grant. The funding would have been used to assist with rehabilitation and energy efficiency improvements for homes in the disadvantaged community area (including, but not limited to: roofs, siding, windows, insulation, HVAC).
On January 27, 2025, the City was notified by the EPA that the number of applications received significantly exceeded the amount of available funding and it was very unlikely that the City would be awarded funding. The City will continue to explore funding options to assist with the rehabilitation of homes in the disadvantaged community area of the City.
