Structure Fire

Clinton Fire Department units were dispatched to the 1100 block of 1st Ave for a reported structure fire; a deck was on fire and spreading to the roof. CFD responded with fifteen firefighters in one ladder truck, two engines, four ambulances, and a command vehicle. Camanche Fire responded with an engine for a RIT on automatic aid. Crews arrived to find a single-story wood frame structure with smoke to the rear and coming from the eaves. Firefighters assisted with removal of one occupant and pets from inside the home.

The fire was located on the deck in the rear of the home and had spread into the attached garage. The fire was knocked down within five minutes of arrival. Crews continued to overhaul and check for hot spots. The scene was labeled under control within thirty minutes. An investigation was conducted and the fire was determined to be accidental in nature. There were no civilian injuries; however, one firefighter suffered a minor injury which required first aid only. No other information is available at this time. Crews were assisted on scene by Clinton County Communications, Camanche Fire Department, and Alliant Energy.
